En Drôme Provençale
Close your eyes and trust in your senses! You are in the land of lavender, olive trees and oaks where truffles grow. Here, in the foothills of Venaissin and Dauphiné, you will discover an impressionist landscape dotted with gorgeous country houses. Many chateaux line this trail, offering evidence of an abundant past: in Suze la Rousse, the old residence of the Princes of Orange now houses the Université du Vin, where students from all around the world gather each year. This Provençal pocket of the Drôme département is home to many of the Côtes du Rhône Villages, and for epicureans and hedonists it might just be paradise on earth.

The bell towers were built in the 16th century to offer less resistance to the wind, the Mistral.
The Village of Taulignan
This beautiful village was built between the 10th and 15th centuries. The eleven towers reinforcing the curtain wall can still be seen. A visit outside will take you to the 11th century Romanesque Chapelle Saint Marcel and to the Protestant temple in the form of a rotunda. The silk Museum-Workshop will show you the secret of the manufacture of the fabric worm and the jobs of the female workers in the manufactories.
